Rotate PDF

Permanently rotate PDF pages by 90, 180, or 270 degrees — all pages or just the ones you pick.

Scanned documents often come out sideways. Rotate every page or only selected pages, and the new orientation is baked into the saved file so it displays correctly in every reader. Runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Your file never leaves your browser — rotation happens on your device and is permanent in the saved copy (it is not just a viewer rotation).

How to use this calculator

  1. Choose the PDF with sideways or upside-down pages.
  2. Pick the rotation: 90 degrees clockwise, 180 degrees, or 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
  3. Optionally enter which pages to rotate (blank means all).
  4. Click Rotate PDF and save the corrected file.

The formula

New rotation = (current page rotation + the angle you add) mod 360. PDF pages store rotation in 90-degree steps: 0, 90, 180, or 270.

Worked example

A scanned page stored at 90 degrees (sideways) that you rotate by 270 degrees ends at 0 degrees — upright — because 90 + 270 = 360, which wraps back to 0.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the rotation permanent?

Yes. This changes the rotation stored in the PDF file itself, unlike the rotate button in a viewer that only affects your current session. Anyone who opens the saved file sees the corrected orientation.

Can I rotate only some pages?

Yes. Enter the pages in the Pages box using ranges like 1-3, 5 and only those pages turn. Leave the box empty to rotate the whole document.

What if a page is already rotated?

Rotations add up. A page already stored at 90 degrees that you rotate by another 90 ends at 180 degrees; rotating by 270 from 90 returns it to 0 (upright). If a page looks wrong, a second pass with a different angle fixes it.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Rotation only changes a page-orientation value in the file. The page content, text, and images are untouched, so there is no quality loss and the file size barely changes.
