Split PDF
Split one PDF into separate files by page ranges, or save every page as its own PDF.
Pull the chapters you need out of a long document. Give ranges like 1-3, 4-6, 7-10 and get one PDF per range, or split every page into individual files. Runs entirely in your browser — your document is never uploaded.
Your file never leaves your browser — splitting happens on your device.
How to use this calculator
- Choose the PDF you want to split.
- Pick Split by ranges and type your ranges, e.g. 1-3, 4-6, 7-10 — or pick One PDF per page.
- Click Split PDF.
- Save the downloaded files (one per range or per page).
The formula
Each comma-separated group in your range list becomes one output file containing exactly those pages, in document order.
Worked example
Splitting a 10-page PDF with the ranges 1-3, 4-6, 7-10 creates three files: a 3-page file (pages 1-3), a 3-page file (pages 4-6), and a 4-page file (pages 7-10).
Frequently Asked Questions
How do page ranges work?
Type ranges separated by commas, like 1-3, 4-6, 7-10. Each group becomes its own PDF file. A single number such as 5 means just that page. Page numbers start at 1, matching how your PDF reader displays them.
What does the one-PDF-per-page option do?
It creates a separate single-page PDF for every page in the document. A 10-page document produces 10 downloads. Browsers may ask you to allow multiple downloads the first time.
Why is my browser blocking the downloads?
Splitting can produce several files at once, and some browsers block automatic multiple downloads. Allow downloads for this site in the prompt in your address bar, then run the split again.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. Splitting happens locally in your browser with pdf-lib. Nothing is transmitted, stored, or logged, so the tool is safe for sensitive paperwork.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not directly — encrypted files cannot be read. Open the PDF in a reader, remove the password by exporting an unprotected copy, and split that copy instead.
